Client: Singapore Tourism Board
Year: 2014
A collaboration with Daniel Boey and OuterEdit, we conceptualize & designed an 8,500 sqft hospitality experience that is divided into a lounge area and a dining area. Situated right in the thick of the Singapore F1 action, the Temasek Suite hosts world leaders, business leaders, royalties and celebrities over this year's F1 weekend (19-21 September 2014) and showcases the best of Singapore to the world.
The identity of the Temasek Suite is given a fresh take and rebrand this year as well. Black and gold are the colour themes to portray a sense of sophistication and class. A sleek event collateral is designed to compliment this prestigious event, using RJ Shiruku Premium White paper stock with transparent hot stamping on the motifs and silver hot stamping.
Our theme for the suite is to celebrate the hands and faces of all workers / volunteers behind the scenes who make the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix great. The 2014 Temasek Suite celebrates their efforts through a cross-disciplinary showcase of stunning, heart-felt collection of physical and emotional memorabilia and custom-art, designed and curated by a star-studded community of Singapore creative personalities, including a recipient of the nation’s highest design accolade, the President’s Design Award 2013.
This year, the 2014 Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix brings the racing action back to Asia’s only city street circuit with new technical regulations. Cars are more fuel-efficient this season as the old engines make way for the new 1.6-litre turbocharged V6s with an extremely powerful energy recovery system (ERS). Masters Historic Formula One cars will also race in Singapore for the first time — the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship and Masters HGP will combine to showcase 20 vintage Formula One cars from 1966 - 1985.
Now into its seventh year, the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix has firmly established itself as a ‘jewel in the F1 crown’. Over 100,000 unique spectators are drawn to the Marina Bay Street Circuit each year to catch the world’s finest drivers in action, and a global audience of more than 500 million television viewers has watched the night race since 2008.
Throughout the suite, the guests will be able to catch glimpses of the behind-the-scenes action, and the hard work and commitment shown by local volunteer race officials. Local artists (BLACK Design, Wanton Doodle & Band of Doodlers, Harijanto Setiawan, Sun Lee Siew Loo, Bartholomew Ting) and students (SOTA, Raffles Design Institute) have also come together to create unique art pieces in celebration of these efforts.
